Brief: Reduce Sludge Disposal Costs.
“Since the unit was commissioned, it has operated faultlessly and saved the company significant money on its wet waste stream.”
Quote from Manufacturer
Existing DAF Plant produced approximately 20 ton of sludge per week, with a significant cost to transport and dispose.
Following the completion of trials & chemical jar tests, Water Tecnik proposed a containerised dewatering system, to process the wet sludge from the DAF unit. The cake is transferred to a 12 ton dried solids skip. This removes the entire wet sludge waste stream from site and all associated costs, reducing haulage costs significantly.
Water Tecnik Supplied & Installed a Containerised Water Tecnik Disc Screw Press (WTDS-201).
- Capital Investment Payback: 12 Months
- Sludge Disposal Costs Reduction: Over £100K per Annum
- Potential to generate income stream by selling calorific waste
Payback on the capital investment was 12 months. The company are currently exploring options to potentially sell the dried solids, as its calorific content is suitable for use in anaerobic digestors. This will then potentially generate an income from their waste stream, for what was historically a significant cost for the site.
