Fat Oil Grease FOG

    Huge Fatberg removed in Belfast City Centre as a result of FOG

    Huge Fatberg has been removed in Belfast City Centre - If your discharging industrial effluent to river / sewer Water Tecnik can help you with your effluent treatment!

    Recently Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) have added Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) to the discharge consent agreement at a limit of 100mg/L.

    For many of our customers, due to expansion there is limited control of the Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) consequential their discharge consent is not achieving the required target of 100mg/L resulting in their effluent being non-compliant.

    Several food production sites use Grease traps which will remove surface oil contaminates however, Grease traps are ineffective at removing the emulsified Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) contaminates within the resulting effluent.

    Therefore, one of the most effective means of removing the Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) from the effluent is through chemical treatment followed by Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)

    Water Tecnik can collect effluent samples and perform chemical jar tests to confirm the most effective chemical treatment process for your specific effluent.

    One of our most recent Customers, Maud's Ice Creams has experienced outstanding results following the implementation of a turnkey effluent treatment system.

    The main components include;

    • Transfer pumping station
    • Balance tank
    • DAF system
    • Sludge Tank

    David Wilson, Director had this to say about Water Tecnik,
